SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 (9:30 A.M.) – 9TH LOS ALAMOS OLD DAYS 5K STAMPEDE:
This race is part of the Old Days Celebration and the start, finish, and registration (from 8:00-9:15 AM) will be on Bell Street at Ferrini Park. The race will be over a scenic loop course through town and Los Alamos Park, finishing prior to the start of the parade. The race entry fee is $25 which includes a race t-shirt while supplies last. There will be awards to the top three in seven age divisions and a trophy to the first overall male and female finishers. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12 (9:00 A.M.) – NIPOMO OCTOBER FESTIVAL FOUR MILE RUN & TWO MILE WALK:
This run will be held at Nipomo Regional Park, 555 Pomeroy Street in Nipomo (at Tefft & Pomeroy). The four mile course is out and back and there is a two mile walk over the same route with an earlier turnaround. There will be no awards at this non-competitive run but there will be raffle prizes with the drawing at 8:30 AM prior to the race (winners must be present) and refreshments. There will be activities including music, food, and booths in the park after the race. The run is organized by the Nipomo Recreation Department, 239 West Tefft Street (Post Office Box 346), Nipomo, 93444, 929-5437, www.nipomorecreation.org, and registration can be done on-line through www.active.com. All funds raised from this event go to benefit local youth recreation and sports programs in the Five Cities.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13 (7:00 A.M) – CITY TO THE SEA HALF MARATHON & SEASIDE 5K:
The half marathon starts at 7:00 AM in downtown San Luis Obispo and goes along frontage roads to Dinosaur Caves Park in Pismo Beach. The 5K takes place on an out-and-back course at Dinosaur Caves Park. Proceeds from both races go to the Cuesta College cross country and track programs. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20 (8:30 A.M.) – SCARECROW FESTIVAL 5K:
This family event is scheduled to coincide with Cambria’s Scarecrow Festival. It will start at Shamel Park, 5455 Windsor Boulevard in Cambria (off Highway 1 at the north end of Cambria) and head south toward Fiscalini Ranch. The course is next to Cambria’s pristine coastline and is intended to introduce the trails and views of Fiscalini Ranch to more residents of the central coast. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20 (9:00 A.M.) – RUN FOR THE HILLS 5K:
This 5K takes place at the Saunders Vineyard at 7300 North River Road in Paso Robles and is presented by the Hearst Ranch Winery with proceeds going to benefit Georgia Brown Elementary School. The race starts at Hearst Ranch Winery’s tasting room in Paso Robles, winds up the hills on dirt trails through Saunders Vineyard and into hills dotted with oak trees. The course then loops back down to finish at the tasting room. The event includes a post-race festival where food and wine will be available for purchase. Participants will need to bring ID or, if they are under 18, a parent or legal guardian. Late registration begins at 8:00 AM and the race starts at 9:00 AM. Parking will be located on site. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27 (9:00 A.M.) – BAYWOOD PARK OKTOBERFEST FOUR MILE RUN:
Start by the boat dock at 1391 – Second Street in downtown Baywood Park and run an out and back 4 mile course on roads adjacent to the bay. Day of registration is $20 for the race and the first 150 signups get a pint glass and drink ticket for beer, coffee, or hot chocolate with their registration. Registration starts at 7:30 AM and ends at 8:45 AM with a 9:00 race start. Plenty of divisions from 8 & Under to 70 & over with prizes for each age and gender. Cash awards for breaking male or female overall course records, which are 18:31 and 21:33 respectively). All proceeds support Central Coast cross country programs.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17 (8:00/8:15/9:15 A.M.) – WINE COUNTRY HALF MARATHON, 5K, & KID’S GRAPE STOMP:
The race will start and finish at the CaliPaso Winery at 4230 Buena Vista Drive in Paso Robles. The course takes you over rolling hills, through picturesque vineyards, and along the Salinas River. After the race, enjoy breakfast, music, a raffle, and the awards ceremony. All runners receive a tech T-shirt and the male and female winners of the half marathon win their weight in wine. Medals and a wine glass to all half marathon finishers and awards to the top three in 13 age groups in both races. The half marathon begins at 8:00 (walkers at 7:15), the 5K at 8:15, and the Grape Stomp half mile for ages 10 & under at 9:15 AM. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8 (8:00 A.M.) – SPOONER’S COVE MONTANA DE ORO TRAIL RUNS:
This is part of the Coastal Trail Run series designed to provide quality trail running experiences. Check-in, start, and finish at Spooner’s Cove in Montana de Oro State Park, 2828 Pecho Valley Road (Los Osos). Enjoy views of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and the ocean at the “Mountain of Gold”. The 5 mile course has minimal climbing and runs along the bluffs. For impressive views of the ocean and inland mountains, the 8 mile course will bring you up the 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. The 25 km course consists of two loops, the 8 mi route and then the grassy summit of Hazard Peak or complete the 25K twice for a 50K day.
