SATURDAY, APRIL 4 (9:00 A.M.) – I-SCREAM 5K & KID’S RUN:
This event will take place just south of the pier in Pismo Beach. The I-Scream 5K and kids run is an all-ages event that combines fitness with a lot of ice cream at the finish line. The event will have a 5K for adults and a non-timed fun run for kids. The I-Scream 5K serves as a fundraiser for the Arroyo Grande Water Polo Club to offset program expenses. This event will take place on a private ranch at 2401 Drum Canyon Road in Lompoc, located in beautiful Drum Canyon outside Los Alamos. Presented by Luis Escobar, the event will be held in conjunction with the Los Alamos Business Association along with Drum Canyon Ranch owner Sam Howland. The event will feature a 5K & 10K trail run with overnight camping on the ranch, a guest speaker, wine tasting, and live music. SATURDAY, APRIL 25 – ROTARY CLUB RUN/WALK FOR MENTAL HEALTH:
This event will take place at Waller Park at 3107 Orcutt Road in Orcutt, located at the south end of Santa Maria just north of Skyway Drive. The run/walk starts on the north end of Waller Park at area #7, proceeds to the railroad trail behind the Hagerman Sports Complex and back to area #5. There are several hills and curves as the course follows the perimeter of the park. Registration and additional information can be found at www.active.com. A portion of the proceeds will go to Growing Grounds to give employment to those with mental illness along with providing a supportive setting for personal growth.
This non-competitive run has distances of 2K, 4K, & 10K and is open to runners and walkers with a limit of one dog per person. The new location is the River Star Cellars at 7450 Estrella Road in San Miguel and the event will be held rain or shine. SATURDAY, MAY 9 (8:00 A.M.) – MIRACLE MILES FOR KIDS 10K WALK/RUN:
Support foster and special needs children and their families by participating in the Miracle Miles for Kids 10K. Start at the base of Morro Rock and run along the beach to the finish at the pier in Cayucos. Included in the entry fee is an event t-shirt, breakfast, music, children’s activities, vendor displays, and prizes in half a dozen age divisions. Born to Run is a weekend of trail running, live music, camping and much more. The Born to Run Ultra Marathon Extravaganza will feature Four Day, 100 mile, 60 mile, 30 mile, and 10 mile trails runs with rolling hills, single and double track trail, wildflowers, red-tailed hawks, blue skies and clean air for an ideal running environment. The event will start and finish on the beautiful, private East Creek Ranch at 4155 Figueroa Mountain Road in Los Olivos. Everyone who enters the property must be registered. SATURDAY, MAY 16 (7:30/8.00 A.M.) – BULL CANYON 5K, 10K, & KID’S RUNS:
The Bull Canyon Run began in 1999. This 5K/10K is organized by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, whose goal is to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics. Coast. All events start at the Edwards Community Center at 809 North Panther Street in Santa Maria. The 10K will begin at 7:30, the 5K run/walk at 8:00, and the kids runs at 9:30. The 5K is a relatively flat out and back course while the 10K continues farther up Bull Canyon and has more hills. All finishers receive a T-shirt and a medal, and medals will be awarded to the top finisher in each age division. Register at www.active.com. Paper applications will not be accepted, there will be no race day registration, and the cutoff to register is 5:00 PM on May 14. The Kiwanis of Greater Pismo Beach are sad to announce that after 33 years, we will not be holding the Strawberry Stampede in 2020. Since 1987 the Strawberry Stampede has been held in conjunction with the Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival. Unfortunately, the organization that held the Strawberry Festival, the Village Improvement Association, was dissolved. SATURDAY, MAY 30 (8:00 A.M.) – LIGHTHOUSE FOUNDATION 5K:
This 5K run is to benefit The Lighthouse Foundation and it will take place at Fableist Wine Company (formerly known as Pomar Junction Vineyard & Winery). The course winds its way along a challenging course through the vineyards of the winery at 5036 South El Pomar Road in Templeton with a kid’s half mile following the finish of the 5K. Enjoy family activities with a bounce house, face painting, and crafts along with raffle prizes, a pancake breakfast, and music. The Lighthouse Foundation provides programs to help local youth overcome their drug and alcohol problems. PISMO BEACH STRIDE WITH THE TIDE 5K
SATURDAY, JULY 11 (8:30 A.M.) – PISMO BEACH STRIDE WITH THE TIDE 5K:
This course is out and back on the hard-packed sand. Registration will be taken on race morning from 7:15-8:15 AM at the Pismo Beach pier at the end of Pomeroy Avenue and no pre-entry is needed before that. Entry fees are $15 without a race shirt or cap and $25 with one. Shirts and caps will be available to the first 150 entries and size requests will be filled in the order of entry. Awards will be given to the top three men and women ages 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, & 80+.
