Tonight’s run takes place at the golf course at Dairy Creek, located adjacent to El Chorro Regional Park across from Cuesta College at 2990 Dairy Creek Road and the shoe sponsor offering the opportunity to test out their latest footwear is New Balance. The run will cover a 2 mile loop, which runners can choose to repeat, and walkers will follow the same route. Meet on the patio outside the restaurant. This race is part of Cambria’s Pinedorado Days celebration and runs along a course that follows the Pinedorado parade route. The race, which takes place just before the parade, starts and finishes at Coast Union High School, 2950 Santa Rosa Creek Road in Cambria with registration opening at 7:00 AM. The entry fee is $25 with T-shirts to the first 30 entrants. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 (9:00 A.M.) – DUNE RUN 5K RUN, 5K WALK, & 10K RUN: Registration will be at the Beach Plaza at the beach end of Grand Avenue in the area adjacent to Fin’s Seafood Restaurant. The courses will be out and back on the beach with a stretch through the soft sand dunes. The race is conducted by the Recreation Department, 154 South 8th Street, Grover Beach, 93433, 473-4580. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 (8:30 A.M.) – LOS ALAMOS OLD DAYS 5K STAMPEDE:
This race is part of the Old Days Celebration and the start, finish, and registration (starting at 7:00 AM) will be at Ferrini Park on Bell Street. The race will be over a scenic loop course through town and Los Alamos Park, finishing prior to the start of the parade. The race entry fee is $25 which includes a race t-shirt while supplies last. There will be awards to the top three in various age divisions and a trophy to the first male and female finishers. This is a fundraiser for Cal Swoosh, which helps underprivileged youth play sports. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1 (7:00 AM) – BACK ON THE RANCH 3, 6, 12, & 24 HOUR RUNS:
Presented by All We Do Is Run, these trail races will take place at Sand Creek Ranch in Los Olivos. The object is to complete as many 2 mile laps as possible within the allotted time periods. Twelve hour runners may opt for a daytime or nighttime segment, either 8:00 am to 8:00pm on Saturday or 8:00 pm Saturday to 8:00 am on Sunday. The course is a 2 mile loop with 302 ft of vertical gain. The surface is on a hard packed dirt road, going clockwise in single direction that will not alternate. Aid station support is available every two miles. Starting times are 7:00am for the 24 hour run, 8:00am for the 12 hour, 9:00am for the 6 hour, and 10:00am for the 3 hour. All participants will receive a custom souvenir tee shirt, bandana face covering, and an AllWeDoIsRun cap. Awards will be presented to the top male and female in each division. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16 (8:00 A.M.) – SPOONER’S COVE MONTANA DE ORO TRAIL RUNS:
This is part of the Coastal Trail Run series designed to provide quality trail running experiences. Check-in, start, and finish at Spooner’s Cove in Montana de Oro State Park at the end of Pecho Valley Road in Los Osos. The 8K course has minimal climbing and runs along the bluff while the 13K course brings you up the 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. The 25K course consists of two loops, the 13K route and then to the 1,076-foot summit of Hazard Peak. Complete the 25K route twice for a 50K day. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 (9:00 A.M.) – THE RON ROUNDY BAYWOOD OKTOBERFEST 4 MILE RUN & 2 MILE WALK:
Start by the boat dock at 1391 – Second Street in downtown Baywood Park and run an out and back 4 mile course on roads adjacent to the bay. This year’s event will include the addition of a two mile walk. Registration starts at 7:00 AM and ends at 8:45 AM with a 9:00 AM race start. Plenty of divisions from 9 & under to 70 & over with a bear pin to all age group winners. Gift cards to the top three overall and to the first place masters (40+) plus $100 course record bonus for whoever can beat the current marks set by Olympic team members Mark Conover (18:31) and Linda Somers-Smith (21:33). SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5 (8:00 A.M.) – ORCUTT TRAILS 5K, 10K, HALF MARATHON, & MARATHON:
This event returns to Los Flores Ranch Park, 6245 Dominion Road in Santa Maria with 5K, 10K, 21K (half-marathon), and 42K (marathon) options. All distances are on the trails at Los Flores Ranch park, eight miles south of Santa Maria in the Solomon Hills, and offer a mix of environmental education, land preservation, and recreation. Participants will enjoy single and double track trails with picturesque views. Proceeds from the event support the Santa Maria Valley Open Space trails advocacy group. Register at www.active.com. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13 (8:00/8:15/9:15 A.M.) – WINE COUNTRY HALF MARATHON, 5K, & KID’S GRAPE STOMP:
The race will start and finish at the CaliPaso Winery at 4230 Buena Vista Drive in Paso Robles. The course takes you over rolling hills, through picturesque vineyards, and along the Salinas River. After the race, enjoy breakfast, music, a raffle, and the awards ceremony. All runners receive a tech T-shirt and the male and female winners of the half marathon win their weight in wine. Medals and a wine glass to all half marathon finishers and awards to the top three in 13 age groups in both races. The half marathon begins at 8:00 (walkers at 7:15), the 5K at 8:15, and the Grape Stomp half mile for ages 10 & under at 9:15 AM.
