SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 21 (7:00 A.M) – CITY TO THE SEA HALF MARATHON & SEASIDE 5K:
The half marathon starts at 7:00 AM in downtown San Luis Obispo and goes along frontage roads to Dinosaur Caves Park in Pismo Beach. The 5K takes place on an out-and-back course at Dinosaur Caves Park. Proceeds from both races go to the Cuesta College cross country and track programs. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 25 (8:30 A.M.) – AVILA BEACH TURKEY TROT:
This year’s Turkey Trot will combine the traditional gathering in Avila Beach with the virtual elements from 2020. The in-person trot is a 2-mile walk that begins at the Avila Beach Promenade on Front Street and goes along the Bob Jones Trail. The virtual version can be a walk or run on your own or with family and friends at a location of your choice. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 25 (8:30 A.M.) – ECHO NORTH COUNTY TURKEY TROT:
Join ECHO for a 5K run/walk on Thanksgiving morning at the Atascadero Lake Park Bandstand. There is a match for suggested donations so be sure to bring the entire family. ECHO operates three facilities in North County that provide meals and overnight shelter to meet the needs of families and individuals who are facing hunger and homelessness. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 11 (9:30 A.M.) – SAN LUIS OBISPO REINDEER RUN:
The Friday Night Live Reindeer Run is a 5K fun run to promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle. The route begins at Mitchell Park, 1400 Osos Street in San Luis Obispo and follows the Railroad Trail to Orcutt Road, returning to Mitchell Park via Broad and Santa Barbara Streets. The majority of the course is on the trail or sidewalks and will have volunteers along the way. Online registration will be available through December 10th and day of registration will be available. Kids under the age of 5 are free. All paid registrations receive a commemorative Reindeer Run water bottle and a ticket for breakfast following the run. Additional food tickets for spectators can be purchased for $5 each. The Reindeer Run will follow all public health guidelines as applicable. SUNDAY, JANUARY 2 (9:00 A.M.) – BITTNI AND BRYNN 5K/10K RUN & WALK:
The Bittni and Brynn Run will take place at Santa Margarita Lake, 4695 Santa Margarita Lake Road. The 10K run course is 20 percent paved and 80 percent dirt with several challenging hills over an out-and-back course along the shoreline of Santa Margarita Lake. The event is a fundraiser for the Run 4 Bitti and Brynn Foundation which provides scholarships to local high school athletes. SATURDAY, JANUARY 15 (8:00 A.M.) – CASTLE TO COAST EIGHT MILE RUN:
Enjoy 8.2 miles of beautiful ocean views on this point to point course, which begins at Hearst San Simeon State Park, 442 San Simeon Road, just north of San Simeon, and ends at Shamel Park in Cambria. Shuttles will be provided back to the start. Entries are limited to the first 300 to register and proceeds help support Cuesta College XC. Register through www.active.com. These races are at Camp Roberts off Highway 101 just north of San Miguel. The course goes through the hills and meadows of the Camp Roberts National Guard Reservation with wildlife and spectacular views. This is part of the Pacific Coast Trail Run series designed to provide quality trail running experiences. The check-in, start, and finish are at Spooner’s Cove in Montana de Oro State Park, 2826 Pecho Valley Road (Los Osos). All courses are hilly ones on trails through the park and offer varied types of terrain. The Running Warehouse pub runs are back. These are low-key, untimed workout style runs of 3-4 miles with no registration fee.
