This non-competitive run has distances of 2K, 4K, & 10K and is open to runners and walkers with a limit of one dog per person. The new location is the River Star Cellars at 7450 Estrella Road in San Miguel and the event will be held rain or shine. Due to the health concerns related to COVID-19, our annual fundraiser, the Miracle Miles for Kids 10K, will no longer be held. FCNI serves local homeless families, children, and youth impacted by trauma and they need our community support. While MM4K can’t be held, you can still support our mission by donating your registration fee to provide those in our care with financial support. SATURDAY, MAY 9 (8:00 A.M.) – MIRACLE MILES FOR KIDS 10K WALK/RUN:
Support foster and special needs children and their families by participating in the Miracle Miles for Kids 10K. Start at the base of Morro Rock and run along the beach to the finish at the pier in Cayucos. Included in the entry fee is an event t-shirt, breakfast, music, children’s activities, vendor displays, and prizes in half a dozen age divisions. SATURDAY, MAY 16 (7:30/8.00 A.M.) – BULL CANYON 5K, 10K, & KID’S RUNS:
The Bull Canyon Run began in 1999. This 5K/10K is organized by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, whose goal is to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics. Coast. All events start at the Edwards Community Center at 809 North Panther Street in Santa Maria. The 10K will begin at 7:30, the 5K run/walk at 8:00, and the kids runs at 9:30. The 5K is a relatively flat out and back course while the 10K continues farther up Bull Canyon and has more hills. All finishers receive a T-shirt and a medal, and medals will be awarded to the top finisher in each age division. Register at www.active.com. Paper applications will not be accepted, there will be no race day registration, and the cutoff to register is 5:00 PM on May 14. The Kiwanis of Greater Pismo Beach are sad to announce that after 33 years, we will not be holding the Strawberry Stampede in 2020. Since 1987 the Strawberry Stampede has been held in conjunction with the Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival. Unfortunately, the organization that held the Strawberry Festival, the Village Improvement Association, was dissolved. SATURDAY, MAY 30 (8:00 A.M.) – LIGHTHOUSE FOUNDATION 5K CANCELLED!
Thanks to those of you who have signed up for the 8th Annual Lighthouse 5K originally scheduled for May 30. It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel this event due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus “shelter at home” order. Mark your calendars for next year on Saturday, June 5, 2020. This has been an important fundraiser and in 2019 we were able to raise over $26,000 at this event. If you have signed up for the run and would like to donate your registration fee, you do not need to do anything. This 5K run is to benefit The Lighthouse Foundation and it will take place at Fableist Wine Company (formerly known as Pomar Junction Vineyard & Winery). The course winds its way along a challenging course through the vineyards of the winery at 5036 South El Pomar Road in Templeton with a kid’s half mile following the finish of the 5K. Enjoy family activities with a bounce house, face painting, and crafts along with raffle prizes, a pancake breakfast, and music. The Lighthouse Foundation provides programs to help local youth overcome their drug and alcohol problems. The Templeton Recreation Department has moved the date of their 5K originally scheduled for June 27 to October 10th in the hopes that the State will have loosened their COVID-19 social distancing guidelines by then.
PISMO BEACH STRIDE WITH THE TIDE 5K
The Stride with the Tide 5K race committee has decided that it’s best to cancel the race for this year. We didn’t see how the race would be feasible while meeting the recommendations and guidelines from local and state health officials. We were hopeful that we would be in a better place with COVID-19 by this time but it’s apparent we are not. We will miss this event and seeing all of you.
SATURDAY, JULY 25 (8:00 A.M.) – BRIAN WATERBURY ROCK TO PIER RUN & ROCK’N AROUND THE PIER HALF MARATHON:
From the Morro Bay Recreation Department, “Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, we have made the decision to cancel our physical event this year. Since this event is so important to the funding of our Recreation Department, we hope that you will participate in a virtual Rock to Pier Run of 6 miles. Registration will include a virtual race packet and bib as well as a commemorative t-shirt that will be mailed at the beginning of August. This event can be run where you live and you can run any time during the month of July, all at once or a little every day. We will be using social media to share information and do our giveaways. SUNDAY, JULY 26 (all day) – SAN LUIS OBISPO TRIATHLON (Swim = 1/2M, Bike = 15M, Run = 3.1M): CANCELLED!
After careful consideration regarding the health and safety of the participants, staff, and spectators, the City of San Luis Obispo has made the difficult decision to cancel the 41st Annual San Luis Obispo Triathlon scheduled for Sunday, July 26, 2020. The City of San Luis Obispo is very disappointed that we are unable to hold the SLO TRI for our community and participants. However, we are certain that it is the right decision based on the information we have today. Please stay safe and stay tuned for more information about the SLO TRI in 2021.
This event starts with the first 40 entrants hitting the pool at 7:00 AM and continues through the day at Sinsheimer Park. Each finisher receives a medal, T-shirt, results, and is eligible for the raffle drawing. Registration will be available on-line only. The event is conducted by the S.L.O. AUGUST 22-28, CHARLES PADDOCK ATASCADERO ZOO’S VIRTUAL “RUNNING WITH WILDLIFE”:
You’re invited anytime between August 22 and 28 to run or walk for one mile, 5K, 10K, or half marathon. With a full week to complete the event, we ask that you maintain a safe distance from others and avoid trails and walking paths during peak times. All participants who register will be entered to win the grand prize of Disneyland tickets (two 1-day park hopper tickets valid until 05/24/2021).
