SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7 8:00am/9:00am
The Jingle All the Way is a 5K with a 1-mile run for kids (starting at 9:00 AM) with a race t-shirt that was designed by a Templeton student. The 5K course is closer to 5.4K and winds through the residential streets of Templeton. Start and finish at the Templeton Fire Station at 206 – 5th Street. There is a Farmer’s Market and parking spaces are reserved for vendors. There is parking along Crocker Street or 5th Street.)
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7 (9:00 A.M.) – FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE REINDEER 5K RUN:
The annual Reindeer Run will take place at Mitchell Park, located at 1400 Osos Street in San Luis Obispo. The course will take runners along the railroad trail to Orcutt Road and return to Mitchell Park via Broad and Santa Barbara Streets. Proceeds benefit the Friday Night Live youth programs. Enjoy pancakes at the Senior Center following the run. Race registration is through www.active.com. There is no event parking at Mitchell Park so participants are encouraged to use the Marsh Street parking structure.; dogs are not permitted on the 5k route. The event schedule is 8:00 AM – Runner check-in; 8:30 AM – Welcome; 9:00 AM – Race Starts; 9:15 AM – Pancake breakfast begins.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8 (8:00 A.M.) – SPOONER’S COVE MONTANA DE ORO TRAIL RUNS:
This is part of the Coastal Trail Run series designed to provide quality trail running experiences. Check-in, start, and finish at Spooner’s Cove in Montana de Oro State Park, 2828 Pecho Valley Road (Los Osos). Enjoy views of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and the ocean at the “Mountain of Gold”. The 5 mile course has minimal climbing and runs along the bluffs. For impressive views of the ocean and inland mountains, the 8 mile course will bring you up the 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. The 25 km course consists of two loops, the 8 mi route and then the grassy summit of Hazard Peak or complete the 25K twice for a 50K day. There are T-shirts to all entrants, refreshments, medals to the first male and female overall, and to the top three in each age group. Check the web site at www.coastaltrailruns.com to register.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 4 (8:00 A.M.) – LA CUESTA RANCH TRAIL RUNS (10K, 25K, 50K):
Directed by Luis Escobar, these runs will take place at the La Cuesta Ranch just outside of San Luis Obispo at 2400 Loomis Road. The ranch backs up to Poly Canyon and the West Cuesta Ridge. This is a working ranch and the start/finish area will be at the ranch barn. This event features 100% dirt trails and ranch roads with fantastic views of the West Cuesta Ridge. SUNDAY, JANUARY 5 (9:00 A.M.) – BRITTNI AND BRYNN FLOWER RUN:
The Brittni and Brynn Flower Run will take place at Santa Margarita Lake, 4695 Santa Margarita Lake Road, Santa Margarita, CA 93453. The 10K run course is 20 percent paved and 80 percent dirt with several challenging hills over an out-and-back course along the shoreline of Santa Margarita Lake. The walk is approximately 1.6 miles and follows a portion of the run course, including two hills. The event is a fundraiser for the Run 4 Bitti and Brynn Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing scholarships to local high school athletes. Registration is through active.com. SATURDAY, JANUARY 11 (8:00 A.M.) – CASTLE TO COAST EIGHT MILE RUN:
Enjoy 8.2 miles of beautiful ocean views on this point to point course, which begins at Hearst San Simeon State Park, 442 San Simeon Road, just north of San Simeon, and ends at Shamel Park in Cambria. Shuttles will be provided back to the start. Entries are limited to the first 300 to register and proceeds help support Cuesta College XC. Register through www.active.com. The Buzz Marathon is at Camp Roberts just north of San Miguel. The course goes through the hills and meadows of the Camp Roberts National Guard Reservation with spectacular views. The Cal Poly Triathlon Team is hosting a 5K &10K to benefit the triathlon team and United Way. The check-in, start, and finish are at Spooner’s Cove in Montana de Oro State Park, 2826 Pecho Valley Road (Los Osos). All courses are hilly ones on trails through the park and offer a mix of rugged, rocky cliffs, coastal plains, sandy beaches, and streams. SATURDAY, MARCH 7 (8:00 A.M.) – HARES & HOUNDS 5K, MILE, & HALF MILE:
The race is at Atascadero Lake Park, 9305 Pismo Avenue just off Highway 41 West with the start and finish at the Park Pavilion. The 5K will be at 8:00 AM followed by a fun run mile at 8:45 AM, a half mile at 9:00, and the awards ceremony at 9:30. Awards are three-deep in 14 five-year age divisions for the 5K, medals in the mile and half mile, plus refreshments and raffle prizes (must be present to win).
