SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9 (8:00 A.M.) – SPOONER’S COVE MONTANA DE ORO TRAIL RUNS (5M/8M/25K/37K/50K)
This is part of the Coastal Trail Run series designed to provide quality trail running experiences. Check-in, start, and finish at Spooner’s Cove in Montana de Oro State Park, 2828 Pecho Valley Road (Los Osos).
Enjoy views of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and the ocean at the “Mountain of Gold”. The 5 mile course has minimal climbing and runs along the bluffs. For impressive views of the ocean and inland mountains, the 8 mile course will bring you up the 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. The 25 km course consists of two loops, the 8 mi route and then the grassy summit of Hazard Peak or complete the 25K twice for a 50K day. There are T-shirts to all entrants, refreshments, medals to the first male and female overall, and to the top three in each age group. Check the web site at www.coastaltrailruns.com to register.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 12 (8:00 A.M.) – CASTLE TO COAST EIGHT MILE RUN:
Enjoy 8.2 miles of beautiful ocean views on this point to point course, which begins at Hearst San Simeon State Park, 442 San Simeon Road, just north of San Simeon, and end at Shamel Park in Cambria. Shuttles will be provided back to the start. Entries are limited to the first 300 to register and proceeds help support Cuesta College XC. Register through www.active.com. This is part of the Pacific Coast Trail Run series designed to provide quality trail running experiences. The check-in, start, and finish are at Spooner’s Cove in Montana de Oro State Park, 2826 Pecho Valley Road (Los Osos). All courses are hilly ones on trails through the park and offer a mix of rugged, rocky cliffs, coastal plains, sandy beaches, and streams.
