SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7 (9:00 A.M.) – NIPOMO OCTOBER FESTIVAL FOUR MILE RUN & TWO MILE WALK

This run will be held at Nipomo Regional Park, 555 Pomeroy Street in Nipomo (at Tefft & Pomeroy). The four mile course is out and back and there is a two mile walk over the same route with an earlier turnaround. There will be no awards at this non-competitive run but there will be raffle prizes with the drawing at 8:30 AM prior to the race (winners must be present) and post-race refreshments. Proceeds benefit youth programs in Nipomo. There will be plenty of activities, including music, food, and craft booths in the park after the race as part of the October Festival The run is being organized by the Nipomo Recreation Department, 239 West Tefft Street (Post Office Box 346), Nipomo, 93444, 929-5437, www.nipomorecreation.org, and registration can be done on-line through www.active.com. All funds raised from this event go to benefit local youth recreation and sports programs in the Five Cities.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8 (7:00/7:30 A.M.) – CITY TO THE SEA HALF MARATHON (13.1 miles) & SEASIDE 5K (3.1 miles):
The half marathon starts at 7:00 AM in downtown San Luis Obispo at Higuera & Court Streets and follows country roads to Dinosaur Caves Park in Pismo Beach. The entry fee includes an event T-shirt, breakfast buffet, entertainment, and post-race shuttle service. The 5K starts at 7:30 AM and takes place at Dinosaur Caves Park and has all of the above benefits including breakfast. Proceeds go to the Cuesta College cross country and track programs. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21 (8:30 A.M.) – SCARECROW FESTIVAL 5K:
This family event is a fundraiser scheduled to coincide with Cambria’s Scarecrow Festival. It will start at Shamel Park, 5455 Windsor Boulevard in Cambria (located off Highway 1 at the north end of Cambria) and then head south toward Fiscalini Ranch. The entire course is next to Cambria’s pristine coastline and it is our goal to introduce the trails and views of Fiscalini Ranch to more residents of the central coast. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12 (7:00 AM/8:30 AM/9:30 AM) – PASO ROBLES HALF MARATHON, 5K, & FAMILY MILE:
This race will start and finish in the Downtown City Park at 11th & Spring Streets in Paso Robles. Runners in the half marathon will enjoy a tour of the city center before heading out towards the hills of Paso Robles wine country. The half start is at 7:00 AM and the course limit is 4 hours. Fee includes a short-sleeve tech unisex shirt, bib timing, awards, aid stations, and a well-marked course. The 5K starts at 8:30 AM ands is two paved loops through downtown Paso Robles. The Family Mile and SLO County Elementary School Championship Race is a paved loop around the Downtown City Park for young competitive runners, beginners, and families who want to race together. The race schedule is: 6:00 AM – Packet pick-up begins; 7:00 AM – Half Marathon starts; 8:30 AM – 5K starts; 9:30 AM – Family Mile/County Championship Mile; 10:00 AM – Kids’ Dash; 10:30 AM – Awards.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20 (2:00 P.M.) – ARROYO GRANDE YOUTH TURKEY TROTS:
A series of races by grade level for boys and girls, starting with 1/8 mile for kindergarten and below up through a mile for 7th & 8th grades. The races will be held at Arroyo Grande High School, 495 Valley Road at the track. Boys and girls run separately with a turkey to the race winner, a chicken to the runner-up, and a cornish game hen for third in each race plus raffle prizes from local businesses. There is no entry fee and sign ups are at the AGHS track prior to the races.

The Templeton Turkey Trot is being held two weeks later this year and is now the Jingle All the Way 5K. Due to an issue with their online registration process, people can register by emailing a completed entry form and calling in a credit card payment to (805) 434-4909 or by going into the office at 599 South Main Street in Templeton (open Tuesday-Friday between 9:00 AM -6:00 PM.
